- This week, on the first day of the 2026 Legislative Session, people across North Carolina gathered in Raleigh for a powerful day of Education Advocacy at the NC General Assembly.
- Yesterday, the Superintendent Trice of Chapel Hill / Carrboro Schools and head of Media Services Al McArthur were called to another hearing in front of The NC House Oversight Committee to be held accountable for having LGBTQ books in their elementary school libraries which violate the Parents Bill of Rights. Present at yesterday’s hearing were NC Values Coalition, a Proud Boy/Moore county school board member, and others who are stoking this witch hunt.
- The SAVE Act was stalled in the Senate!
- Virginia voted to change voting maps which will favor democrats for 4 additional congressional seats.
- Negotiations between Iran, U.S. Israel and Lebanon continue.

- In March, Gov. Josh Stein released his $1.4 Billion Critical Needs state budget proposal that did not include Leandro.. He also established a New “Bi-Partisan Education Commission” with the very GA leadership who has been blocking leandro for over a decade.
- Earlier this month, the NC Supreme Court yesterday threw out the 2022 Leandro plan and lawsuit, creating a significant barrier in the fight for basic public education funding in North Carolina.
- May Day Action! The North Carolina Association of Educators is encouraging teachers to call out of work on May 1 for a mass march in Raleigh to protest for more funding for public schools.
