- On Wednesday, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the Louisiana voting map - all but eliminating what was left of the Voting Rights Act. “The Supreme Court's 6-3 decision in Louisiana v. Callais is a profound moral wound, not only to the people of Louisiana, but to the promise of a multiracial democracy. This decision invalidates Louisiana’s second Congressional district and paves the way for states to dismantle Black and Latino voting districts across the country.” Statement from UUA’s Side With Love Team
- On Tuesday, over 100 members of North Carolinians Against Gun Violence and Mom's Demand Action Advocacy Day to convince legislators to sustain Governor Stein’s veto of SB50 - a bill that would allow concealed carry of a firearm without a permit removing the Gun Safety course requirement currently in place. Shout out to Jim Hurdis on his leadership on this issue.
- This week, two State Representatives changed their party affiliation from Democrat to unaffiliated. Reps. Carla Cunningham and Nasif Majeed, both lost their Democratic primaries last month.

- Today an estimated 10,000+ educators, students, and families will gather at our state’s capital for a historic “Kids Over Corporations” march and rally led by the NC Association of Educators’ This is a part of today’s call for a general strike - No Work, No School, No Shopping. Other May day events are also planned across the state today.
